How long before you cut off people who never upvote your content on Steemit?

Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this way but I don't follow people for upvotes. the people I follow on steemit are people whose posts I love to read. I upvote them because I feel their work is worthy of it(even though my upvotes don't give anything). Whether they follow back is their concern. But even if they don't upvote it, it shouldn't really matter because maybe they don't like your work or maybe they don't even read it. Will you deny yourself they joy of reading their work because they don't read yours. Like I said, maybe I'm the only one that thinks this way
