Well, this is a really good question. With reference to this question, I'll define science as the intricate detail and understanding behind all things natural and artificial. Religion on the other hand requires believers to not worry themselves about the details. With religion all you have to do is believe and have faith even without evidence. Science on the other hand demands evidence for everything. In the beginning, everything was probably magical to mankind. Thunderstorms, plant growth, diseases. But as time passed and man began to understand his surrounding more and he realized that the thunderstorms that he thought was Zeus's wrath was actually explains less. What they thought there was farmine because the gods were angry, was actually just because the land was arid or not fertile anymore and diseases were just bacteria or viruses or fungi that had somehow entered the body. Religion doesn't dispute any of this, it just says that all these things that are explained by science are caused by a higher being. The movement of heavier negatively charged particles to the bottom of clouds that leads to lightning is because God deems it so. Science on the other hand says there is no God and that it's part of a natural order of things. Science says with the right conditions, all these things happen. Religion says that God set these conditions.

And so on and so forth through every field of life that man has understood.
