Farming of vegetables is becoming a very lucrative business in Nigerian and since the advent of fertilizers and proper trainings and lectures for young entrepreneur who are willing to go into Agriculture we have more yield of fresh and healthy vegetables now.
Pumpkin is a type of these vegetables that is grown in large quantity because of its rich nutritional values.
The leaves is very rich in potassium and iron and which is a good source of blood booster hence pumpkin leaves is eaten and the extract is also squeezed and drank to boost the blood level.
GROWING PUMPKIN
It can be grown at any time of the year with good loamy soil and water.
Adequate land preparation with tilling to break soil crumbs so that root of plant can penetrate easily into the soil.
It germinates after 10-12 days of planting.
Ferlizer can be added at about 3weeks after planting.
In some cases bridges are constructed where the leaves travel along and settle at the top.
While for this one here they grow along the ridges of the soil in farm .
We have these planted and about a month old in our farms and more update about the proper care and growth of this plant is coming up soon.
