Hi Eric,
I'm sorry for your loss. Even though you didn't have a face to face meeting with Liselle, you still connected over the years. I've had many on-line friendships like these and they turned into private correspondence in some cases with promises of meetups that never occurred. In two of these instances, I've lost total contact with indivividuals I suspect have died and there's no one to confirm or explain why the connection was lost. Like you, I've not been good at managing these virtual friendships in the past and have regrets that I didn't. However, I have reached out via texting, email and social media and connected with former friends and colleagues I never would have been able to reach in the past had I not had these on-line experiences and relationships. So, as Joni Mitchell wrote, there's something lost and gained by living every day. I consider our online connection lately to be an example of this—I saw your posts and never responded because you had so many comments I thought mine would be lost and buried under the weight of more successful Hive users and influencers. I was wrong and again, I learned a lesson from that. Thanks for your honesty in writing this post—you eulogized your friend but also did a service to other Hive users like me who hang back figuring our voices and opinions won't be heard.
