Ha ha, I haven't heard about electricity rates but it doesn't surprise me. I want to put solar panels on my roof but my wife doesn't. I lived near Lake Erie and was subject to country winds that tore our roof off and frequently downed the rural power lines. I know all about living in the 19th century. I hate to admit, it pissed me off, even though I love candle light and the ambiance of streets lantern lit to observe Earth Day. I now have many emergency measures to provide light and stay in touch with the world at large when the lights go out, but I haven't yet opted for a wired-in natural gas generator, but that's one possiblity I would love to adopt if I had the money. I'd even consider a wind turbine but we don't own enough land to make that feasible - yeah, my neighbours wouldn't be happy with that for sure LOL!!
