Oh, yes! I love the typewriter too. I was going to use a painting of an 1890's girl typing on a turn of the cetury typewriter that was fixed to a wrought iron stand reminiscent of a vintage Singer sewing machine ( I have one in my den here where I'm typing that I inherited from my mother) but I opted for the photo of the machine itself hoping people would see it as a metaphor for the past still communicating with the present. Don't know if that worked - maybe on the subconscious level perhaps.

As for the paintings...yes, many people have commented on them. It takes me incredible amounts of time to find an objective correlative of my inner experience. I think the photo aspect is part of the ambiance of the story and selecting a poor illustration is detrimental. Lately, I prefer to opt for a painting as opposed to photos because photos are too kinetic - use a picture of a sexy girl and you sell your story but oftentimes sell yourself short. With poetry, paintings are more appropriate - I know photography is also an art but again, you want something that suits the subject matter and doesn't lend itself to distracting the reader. Occasionally, a truly good photo does that but with me it comes down to the 'feel' and photos to me are too starkly real, IMHO...I reserve the right to be wrong :)
