The poem is actually serious beneath the satire - I don't believe we are destined to explore the stars and colonize outer space - that place is absolutely alien and foreign to us. When I look at photos of Mars or other planets I experience a profound frisson - It is totally inhuman and unrelatable, IMO . In much the same way, Artificial Intelligence frightens me - we're venturing into a realm devoid of human feelings and compassion
