If I loved you,
Or put other things
Above you,
But we were
Together
For a while.
Doubt you ever
Pleased me
And can’t find
Any reason
Why I stayed
For just one season...
Or how it even
Got that far.
You never picked up
Leaves in autumn
Or cared about
My problems,
Or paused with me
To look up
At a star.
Perhaps, I never loved you,
Or put other things
Above you,
But surely
I must have loved you...
For a while.
