A silvery flicker in the leaves
A downpour of sunbeams
Through the trees;

That’s how it happens—

Not slowly,
But all at once.

You skip May
And suddenly find yourself
Ahead in July,

With a warm spring day,
A covered patio
And a pair of deep
Dark eyes…

And a sudden sun shower
Requiring shelter
From a gray- blue sky.
