Today we hear about the Covenants that Father Yah made with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, etc. We read of the "new", or "renewed" Covenant in Jeremiah 31:3-33, “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall make a new covenant with the house of Yisra’ĕl and with the house of Yehuḏah,

32not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Mitsrayim, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them,” declares יהוה.

33“For this is the covenant I shall make with the house of Yisra’ĕl after those days, declares יהוה: I shall put My Torah in their inward parts, and write it on their hearts. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.

We read in the verses above how HE makes this Covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Yehudah (Judah).

What about the Covenant that Abba YHVH gave to Pinchas in Numbers 25:12-13? Therefore say, ‘See, I am giving him My covenant of peace,

13and it shall be to him and to his seed after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was ardent for his Elohim, and made atonement for the children of Yisra’ĕl.’ ”

Before digging DEEP into Scripture let's look into the Hebraic meaning of some key words.

Atonement # 3722 kaphar kaw-far' a primitive root; to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively, to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel:-- appease, make (an atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile(-liation). This word Kaphar is used when Noah put pitch on the ark, when Moses was placed in a basket (ark) , and we know of the Atonement from our sins that Messiah offers us when we come to Belief! In the Hebrew word pictures we have ; To cover a person, or The Highest Word that covers.

Covenant is #1285 briyth ber-eeth' from 1262 (in the sense of cutting (like 1254)); a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh):--confederacy, (con-)feder(-ate), covenant, league.

Many times in our thinking today we merely think of covenant as an agreement. This is true as when we covenant we do come to an agreement. However, in today's world we see all kinds of loopholes to extricate ourselves from the terms of our contract. Our Father YHVH Never goes back on His Word, or His Covenant Promises to us! He is not a man that He should lie!

Peace- #7965 shalowm shaw-lome' or shalom {shaw-lome'}; from 7999; safe, i.e. (figuratively) well, happy, friendly; also (abstractly) welfare, i.e. health, prosperity, peace:--X do, familiar, X fare, favour, + friend, X great, (good) health, (X perfect, such as be at) peace(-able, -ably), prosper(-ity, -ous), rest, safe(-ty), salute, welfare, (X all is, be) well, X wholly.

#7999 shalam shaw-lam' a primitive root; to be safe (in mind, body or estate); figuratively, to be (causatively, make) completed; by implication, to be friendly; by extension, to reciprocate (in various applications):--make amends, (make an) end, finish, full, give again, make good, (re-)pay (again), (make) (to) (be at) peace(-able), that is perfect, perform, (make) prosper(-ous), recompense, render, requite, make restitution, restore, reward, X surely.

When we look into the fullness of the word Shalom, we see it is a peace that surpasses all understanding. As we read in #7999, To Make Completed. The Hebrew word picture for Shalom is this; Destroy the authority hat establishes chaos.

Pinchas (Phinehas) #6372 Piynchac pee-nekh-aws' apparently from 6310 and a variation of 5175; mouth of a serpent; Pinechas, the name of three Israelites:--Phinehas.

Some might read the above description of Pinchas and think, "mouth of a serpent is not good." On the surface this is correct, however in Hebrew thought there is almost always two trains of thought regarding a word. As a person has evil inclinations, "yetser hara, an good inclinations, yetser hatov; so are the Hebrew words and meanings. Pinchas can also mean, mouth of an oracle, or mouth of brass. Brass in Scripture symbolizes judgment. Judgment can be either good or bad, Pinchas can speak Life or death. We see that the son of Eli in 1 Samuel was wicked and spoke death, where this Pinchas represented Life! The Hebrew word picture for Pinchas is as follows; To speak a word of life that supports and separates.

As we go back to Numbers, we will read why Pinchas was given The Covenant of Peace. Numbers 25:1-13, And Yisra’ĕl dwelt in Shittim, and the people began to whore with the daughters of Mo’aḇ,

2and they invited the people to the slaughterings of their mighty ones, and the people ate and bowed down to their mighty ones.

3Thus Yisra’ĕl was joined to Ba‛al Pe‛or, and the displeasure of יהוה burned against Yisra’ĕl.

4And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Take all the leaders of the people and hang them up before יהוה, before the sun, so that the burning displeasure of יהוה turns away from Yisra’ĕl.”

5And Mosheh said to the judges of Yisra’ĕl, “Each one of you slay his men who were joined to Ba‛al Pe‛or.”

6And see, one of the children of Yisra’ĕl came and brought to his brothers a Miḏyanite woman before the eyes of Mosheh and before the eyes of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, who were weeping at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

7And when Pineḥas, son of El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a spear in his hand,

8and he went after the man of Yisra’ĕl into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Yisra’ĕl, and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague among the children of Yisra’ĕl came to a stop.

9And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.

10And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

11“Pineḥas, son of El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Yisra’ĕl, because he was ardent with My ardour in their midst, so that I did not consume the children of Yisra’ĕl in My ardour.

12“Therefore say, ‘See, I am giving him My covenant of peace,

13and it shall be to him and to his seed after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was ardent for his Elohim, and made atonement for the children of Yisra’ĕl.’ ”

The word ardour, or ardent also means Zeal. Where else do we find this in Scripture? John 2:13-17,And the Passover of the Yehuḏim was near, and יהושע went up to Yerushalayim.

14And He found in the Set-apart Place those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers sitting.

15And having made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the Set-apart Place, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the moneychangers’ coins and overturned the tables.

16And He said to those selling doves, “Take these away! Do not make the house of My Father a house of merchandise!”

17And His taught ones remembered that it was written, “The ardour for Your house has eaten Me up.”

We see shadows of Messiah in Pinchas (as we do through many characters in the "Older Testament"). As Pinchas made Atonement for the B'nei (children) of Israel, we know Messiah Y'shua became our Ultimate Atonement by the shedding of His Blood; our Kaphar! Pinchas had zeal for Father's house and stopped the plague by his selfless act, Messiah Y'shua did the same thing as many were defiling His Father's house as well. There is no new matter under the sun! Even though both could have been killed for their acts , they knew they were acting out on behalf of Abba YHVH, therefore, they were in complete peace as they had completely surrendered to Him! Here is the peace we are to seek; John 14:27, Peace I leave with you – My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Pinchas is from the bloodline of Aharon (Aaron), a Levite. The question is this; does this Covenant of Peace only apply to those of his seed, or is there more to this than we read in Numbers 25? It appears that initially it is only for Pinchas and his generations, however let's look into this further. Mind you, I'm searching this out and not trying to say that we in any way have replaced the Levitical Priesthood or lineage. However, Scripture seems to indicate that as B'nei (children of) Israel we
have a hope and promise of that Covenant of peace as well.

Isaiah 54:1-10, “Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who have not been in labour! For the children of the deserted one are more than the children of the married woman,” said יהוה.

2“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not. Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.

3“For you shall break forth to the right and to the left, and your seed inherit the nations, and make the deserted cities inhabited.

4“Do not fear, for you shall not be put to shame, nor hurt, you shall not be humiliated. For the shame of your youth you shall forget, and not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.

5“For your Maker is your husband, יהוה of hosts is His Name, and the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl is your Redeemer. He is called the Elohim of all the earth.

6“For יהוה has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when you were refused,” declares your Elohim.

7“For a little while I have forsaken you, but with great compassion I shall gather you.

8“In an overflow of wrath I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I shall have compassion on you,” said יהוה, your Redeemer.

9“For this is the waters of Noaḥ to Me, in that I have sworn that the waters of Noaḥ would never again cover the earth, so have I sworn not to be wroth with you, nor to rebuke you.

10“For though the mountains be removed and the hills be shaken, My kindness is not removed from you, nor is My covenant of peace shaken,” said יהוה, who has compassion on you.

Ezekiel 34:23-31,
And I shall raise up over them one shepherd, My servant Dawiḏ, and he shall feed them. He shall feed them and be their shepherd.

24“And I, יהוה, shall be their Elohim, and My servant Dawiḏ a prince in their midst. I, יהוה, have spoken.

25“And I shall make a covenant of peace with them, and make evil beasts cease from the land. And they shall dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the forest.

26“And I shall make them and the places all around My hill a blessing, and shall cause showers to come down in their season – showers of blessing they are.

27“And the trees of the field shall yield their fruit and the earth yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land. And they shall know that I am יהוה, when I have broken the bars of their yoke. And I shall deliver them from the hand of those who enslaved them,

28and they shall no longer be a prey for the gentiles, and the beast of the earth shall not devour them. And they shall dwell safely, with no one to make them afraid.

29“And I shall raise up for them a planting place of name, and they shall no longer be consumed by hunger in the land, nor bear the shame of the gentiles any more.

30“And they shall know that I, יהוה their Elohim, am with them, and that they, the house of Yisra’ĕl, are My people,” declares the Master יהוה.’ ”

31“And you, My flock, the flock of My pasture, are men, and I am your Elohim,” declares the Master יהוה.’ ”

Ezekiel 37:21-28, And speak to them, ‘Thus said the Master יהוה, “See, I am taking the children of Yisra’ĕl from among the gentiles, wherever they have gone, and shall gather them from all around, and I shall bring them into their land.

22“And I shall make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Yisra’ĕl. And one sovereign shall be sovereign over them all, and let them no longer be two nations, and let them no longer be divided into two reigns.

23“And they shall no longer defile themselves with their idols, nor with their disgusting matters, nor with any of their transgressions. And I shall save them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and I shall cleanse them. And they shall be My people, and I be their Elohim,

24while Dawiḏ My servant is sovereign over them. And they shall all have one shepherd and walk in My right-rulings and guard My laws, and shall do them.

25“And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Ya‛aqoḇ My servant, where your fathers dwelt. And they shall dwell in it, they and their children and their children’s children, forever, and My servant Dawiḏ be their prince forever.

26“And I shall make a covenant of peace with them – an everlasting covenant it is with them. And I shall place them and increase them, and shall place My set-apart place in their midst, forever.

27“And My Dwelling Place shall be over them. And I shall be their Elohim, and they shall be My people.

28“And the gentiles shall know that I, יהוה, am setting Yisra’ĕl apart, when My set-apart place is in their midst – forever.” ’ ”

We read in the above passages that He makes a Covenant of peace with Israel (Jacob). How great is HIS Love for Israel. HE tells us many times over how to attain this Covenant throughout Scripture!

Philippians 4:11-14, Not that I speak concerning need, for I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.

12I know what it is to be humbled, and I know what it is to have in excess. In any and every situation I have learned both to be filled, and to be hungry, both to have in excess, and to be in need.

13I have strength to do all, through Messiah who empowers me.

14Yet you did well in sharing in my pressure.

Philippians 2:1-16, If, then, there is any encouragement in Messiah, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

2make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, one in being and of purpose,

3doing none at all through selfishness or self-conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

4Each one should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

5For, let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah יהושע,

6who, being in the form of Elohim, did not regard equality with Elohim a matter to be grasped,

7but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, and came to be in the likeness of men.

8And having been found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, death even of a stake.

9Elohim, therefore, has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name,

10that at the Name of יהושע every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11and every tongue should confess that יהושע Messiah is Master, to the esteem of Elohim the Father.

12So that, my beloved, as you always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much rather in my absence – work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,

13for it is Elohim who is working in you both to desire and to work for His good pleasure.

14Do all matters without grumblings and disputings,

15in order that you be blameless and faultless, children of Elohim without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

16holding on to the Word of life, for a boast to me in the day of Messiah, that I have not run in vain or laboured in vain.

2 Corinthians 2:1-11, And I decided this within myself, not to come to you again in sadness.

2For if I make you sad, then who is he who makes me glad but the one who is made sad by me?

3And I wrote to you as I did, so that having come, I might not have sadness over those from whom I should have joy, trusting in you all that my joy is that of you all.

4For out of much pressure and distress of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be sad, but that you might know the love which I so richly have for you.

5But if anyone has caused sadness, he has not made me sad, but in some degree you all – not to be too harsh.

6For such a one this punishment, by the many, is sufficient,

7so that, on the contrary, you should rather forgive and comfort, lest somehow such a one be swallowed up with too much sadness.

8So I appeal to you to confirm your love to him.

9Besides, I wrote for this purpose also, that I might know the proof of you, if you are obedient in all matters.

10And whom you forgive any matter, I do also. For indeed, if I have forgiven any matter, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the sight of Messiah,

11lest Satan should take advantage of us, for we are not ignorant of his thoughts.

Ephesians 3:8-21, To me, the very least of all the set-apart ones, this favour was given, to bring the Good News of the unsearchable riches of Messiah among the gentiles,

9and to make all see how this secret is administered, which for ages past has been hidden in Elohim who created all through יהושע Messiah,

10so that now, through the assembly, the many-sided wisdom of Elohim might be known to the principalities and authorities in the heavenlies,

11according to the everlasting purpose which He made in Messiah יהושע our Master,

12in whom we have boldness and access, with reliance, through belief in Him.

13I pray therefore, that you do not lose heart at my pressures on your behalf, which is your esteem.

14For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Master יהושע Messiah,

15from whom all fatherhood in the heavens and earth is named,

16in order that He might give you, according to the riches of His esteem by power, to be strengthened in the inner man, through His Spirit,

17that the Messiah might dwell in your hearts through belief – having become rooted and grounded in love,

18in order that you might be strengthened to firmly grasp, with all the set-apart ones, what is the width and length and depth and height,

19to know the love of Messiah which surpasses knowledge, in order that you might be filled to all the completeness of Elohim.

20And to Him who is able to do exceedingly above what we ask or think, according to the power that is working in us,

21to Him be esteem in the assembly by Messiah יהושע unto all generations, for ever and ever. Amĕn.

Deuteronomy 10:12-15, And now, Yisra’ĕl, what is יהוה your Elohim asking of you, but to fear יהוה your Elohim, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve יהוה your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being,

13to guard the commands of יהוה and His laws which I command you today for your good?

14“See, the heavens and the heaven of heavens belong to יהוה your Elohim, also the earth with all that is in it.

15“יהוה delighted only in your fathers, to love them. And He chose their seed after them, you above all peoples, as it is today.

Matthew 12:48-50, But He answering, said to the one who spoke to Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”

49And having stretched out His hand toward His taught ones, He said, “See My mother and My brothers!

50“For whoever does the desire of My Father who is in the heavens is My brother and sister and mother.”

Micah 6:8, He has declared to you, O man, what is good. And what does יהוה require of you but to do right, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your Elohim?

There are so many more verses that Instruct us how to live in a Way that is pleasing to Abba YHVH Elohim (God). All Scripture ties in. There is a common thread all throughout, and that thread is Messiah coming to Redeem us!

In the following verses we are told of us being brought into the Priesthood, a Royal Priesthood!

Exodus 19:5-6, And now, if you diligently obey My voice, and shall guard My covenant, then you shall be My treasured possession above all the peoples – for all the earth is Mine –

6‘and you shall be to Me a reign of priests and a set-apart nation.’ Those are the words which you are to speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl.”

1 Peter 2:9-10, But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light,

10who once were not a people, but now the people of Elohim; who had not obtained compassion, but now obtained compassion.

Revelation 1:1-6, 1Revelation of יהושע Messiah, which Elohim gave Him to show His servants what has to take place with speed. And He signified it by sending His messenger to His servant Yoḥanan,

2who bore witness to the Word of Elohim, and the witness of יהושע Messiah – to all he saw.

3Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and guard what is written in it, for the time is near.

4Yoḥanan, to the seven assemblies that are in Asia: Favour to you and peace from Him who is and who was and who is coming, and from the seven Spirits that are before His throne,

5and from יהושע Messiah, the trustworthy witness, the first-born from the dead, and the ruler of the sovereigns of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

6and has made us sovereigns and priests to His Elohim and Father, to Him be esteem and rule forever and ever. Amĕn.

And Isaiah 66,
Thus said יהוה, “The heavens are My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where is this house that you build for Me? And where is this place of My rest?

2“And all these My hand have made, and all these that exist,” declares יהוה. “Yet to such a one I look: on him who is poor and bruised of spirit, and who trembles at My Word.

3“But whoever slaughters the bull slays a man; whoever slaughters the lamb breaks a dog’s neck; whoever brings a grain offering – pig’s blood; whoever burns incense blesses an idol. Indeed, they have chosen their own ways, and their being delights in their abominations.

4“I shall also choose their punishments, and bring their fears on them. Because I called, but no one answered. I spoke and they did not hear, and they did evil before My eyes, and chose what was displeasing to Me.”

5Hear the Word of יהוה, you who tremble at His Word, “Your brothers who hate you, who cast you out for My Name’s sake, said, ‘Let יהוה be esteemed, so that we see your joy.’ But they are put to shame.”

6“A roaring sound from the city, a voice from the Hĕḵal, the voice of יהוה, repaying His enemies!

7“Before she laboured, she gave birth; before a pain came to her, she was delivered of a male child.

8“Who has heard the like of this? Who has seen the like of these? Is a land brought forth in one day? Is a nation born at once? For as soon as Tsiyon laboured, she gave birth to her children.

9“Shall I bring to birth, and not give delivery?” says יהוה. “Shall I who give delivery restrain birth?” said your Elohim.

10“Rejoice with Yerushalayim, and be glad with her, all you who love her; rejoice greatly with her, all you who mourn for her;

11so that you feed, and shall be satisfied with the breast of her comforts, so that you drink deeply, and shall delight yourselves in her overflowing esteem.”

12For thus said יהוה, “See, I am extending peace to her like a river, and the esteem of the gentiles like a flowing stream. And you shall feed; you shall be carried on the side, and be fondled on her knees.

13“As one whom his mother comforts, so I comfort you. And in Yerushalayim you are comforted.”

14“And you shall see, and your heart shall rejoice, and your bones flourish as tender grass. And the hand of יהוה shall be known to His servants, and His displeasure to His enemies.

15“For look, יהוה comes with fire and with His chariots, like a whirlwind, to render His displeasure with burning, and His rebuke with flames of fire.

16“For by fire and by His sword יהוה shall judge all flesh, and the slain of יהוה shall be many –

17those who set themselves apart and cleanse themselves at the gardens after ‘One’ in the midst, eating flesh of pigs and the abomination and the mouse, are snatched away, together,” declares יהוה.

18“And I, because of their works and their imaginations, am coming to gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see My esteem.

19“And I shall set a sign among them, and shall send some of those who escape to the nations – Tarshish and Pul and Luḏ, who draw the bow, and Tuḇal and Yawan, the coastlands afar off who have not heard My report nor seen My esteem. And they shall declare My esteem among the gentiles.

20“And they shall bring all your brothers as an offering to יהוה out of all the gentiles, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My set-apart mountain Yerushalayim,” declares יהוה, “as the children of Yisra’ĕl bring an offering in a clean vessel into the House of יהוה.

21“And from them too I shall take for priests – for Lĕwites,” declares יהוה.

22“For as the new heavens and the new earth that I make stand before Me,” declares יהוה, “so your seed and your name shall stand.

23“And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” declares יהוה.

24“And they shall go forth and look upon the corpses of the men who have transgressed against Me. For their worm shall not die, and their fire not be quenched. And they shall be repulsive to all flesh!”

Did you catch that in verses 18-22? specially verses 20-21; And they shall bring all your brothers as an offering to יהוה out of all the gentiles, on horses and in chariots and in litters, on mules and on camels, to My set-apart mountain Yerushalayim,” declares יהוה, “as the children of Yisra’ĕl bring an offering in a clean vessel into the House of יהוה.

21“And from them too I shall take for priests – for Lĕwites,” declares יהוה.

In closing, If we allow Him to circumcise our hearts then imho, we will one day enter into His Covenant of Peace. The Covenant once given to Pinchas for His zeal, will be given to all B'nei Israel who endure till the end.

Much Shalom!
