In the garden Adam was a picture of the High Priest, and the garden a tabernacle. When he did not guard -(#8104 shamar) then sin crept in. Genesis 2:15, And יהוה Elohim took the man and put him in the garden of Ěḏen to work it and to guard it.
We see Paul warning the assembly at Corinth to guard as well in 1 Corinthians 5, It is commonly reported that there is whoring among you, and such whoring as is not even named among the gentiles, so as one to have his father’s wife! And you have been puffed up, and did not rather mourn, so that he who has done this deed, be removed from among you! For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged the one who did this, as though I were present. In the Name of our Master יהושע Messiah, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Master יהושע Messiah, deliver such a one to Satan for destruction of the flesh, in order that his spirit be saved in the day of the Master יהושע. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the entire lump? Therefore cleanse out the old leaven, so that you are a new lump, as you are unleavened. For also Messiah our Passover was offered for us. So then let us observe the festival, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of evil and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote to you in my letter not to keep company with those who whore. And I certainly did not mean with those of this world who whore, or with the greedy of gain, or swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone called ‘a brother,’ if he is one who whores, or greedy of gain, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler – not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are inside? But Elohim judges those who are outside. And put away the wicked one from among you!
Paul concludes his exhortation with, " put away the wicked from among you".
Since we are the temple that is "housing" the Holy Spirit, we are to guard at all times as well. Without submitting to Abba YHVH at all times, we will succumb to the desires of our flesh over His desire for us.
In last weeks Torah portion we see another breach in the tabernacle, but because of Pinchas being so in tune with Abba Yah and His desires, Pinchas eradicated the transgression.
Numbers 25:6-9, And see, one of the children of Yisra’ĕl came and brought to his brothers a Miḏyanite woman before the eyes of Mosheh and before the eyes of all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, who were weeping at the door of the Tent of Meeting. And when Pineḥas, son of El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation and took a spear in his hand, and he went after the man of Yisra’ĕl into the tent and thrust both of them through, the man of Yisra’ĕl, and the woman through her belly. Thus the plague among the children of Yisra’ĕl came to a stop. And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.
Notice the mention of the woman being thrust through the belly. I believe this is a picture of stopping the reproduction of sin in the camp, as the Israelites were whoring. The belly is representative of reproduction, the womb. As Pinchas speared the sin out of the tabernacle, we are to do the same in our lives today. Since we are the Temple of YHVH we must continually guard so as not to let our temples become defiled.
1 Corinthians 3:16-16, Do you not know that you are a Dwelling Place of Elohim and that the Spirit of Elohim dwells in you? If anyone destroys the Dwelling Place of Elohim, Elohim shall destroy him. For the Dwelling Place of Elohim is set-apart, which you are.
Now we read that Pinchas was given a covenant of peace. Why was he given the covenant of peace?
Numbers 25:10-13, And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, “Pineḥas, son of El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Yisra’ĕl, because he was ardent with My ardour in their midst, so that I did not consume the children of Yisra’ĕl in My ardour. “Therefore say, ‘See, I am giving him My covenant of peace, and it shall be to him and to his seed after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was ardent for his Elohim, and made atonement for the children of Yisra’ĕl.’ ”
Because Pinchas waa ardent, or zealous to eradicate the sin from the tabernacle, he was granted the covenant of peace. When we work together with the Spirit of YHVH, the Spirit of Truth and eradicate the sin in our temples, He will grant us that covenant of peace as well
