I knew that after we had to hunt for Autumn leaves, we sometime later would have to hunt for the trees the leaves have fallen off 🤣

Bare Trees
Season Hunt - last Autumn Week

Since a few weeks, Barbara Orenya | barbara-orenya@barbara-orenya is hosting a new Challenge in the FeelGood Community:

Season Hunt

Every week a new theme is announced which suits to the actual season. This week we are having the last Autumn Hunt and the theme is: We are chasing Bare Trees (https://ecency.com/hive-190931/@barbara-orenya/season-hunt-challenge-last-autumn)

Since it has been snowing a lot in the past days, it's not easy to find a bare tree, because most trees are covered in snow 😉 but I found a few and additionally I have found some older photos in my photo archive, of course.
I don't think that I have already posted one of these images, but you never know ;)

When the leaves have all fallen to the ground, the trees look so very different and I like their look somehow. It's always fascinating to think that in a few months these bare branches will be full of green leaves and fruits again.

This is an older photo from a rainy and foggy October day in the Soča Valley in Slovenia. While the big tree was completely bare already, the small tree in front still had its Autumn dress on.

One of my favourite trees is this one. I haven't taken the 4 photos intentionally to have it in all 4 seasons, but whenever I drove by, I have taken a photo from almost the same spot. So I have got an image showing the same tree in all 4 seasons.

Trees in Autumn

The poets have made Autumn sorrowful;
I find her joyous, radiant, serene.
Her pomp is hung in a deep azure sky
That turns about the world by day and night,
Nor loses its bright charm.
And when the trees resign their foliage,
Loosing their leaves upon the cradling air
As liberally as if they ne'er had owned them, -
They show the richer for the nakedness
That weds them with the clarity of heav'n.

This little apple tree above is in the middle of a farm field, but I haven't found a real good composition yet. The fog has helped a lot to separate the tree from the background.

I have no idea what kind of tree this is - I love how it looks. I have taken this photo on a foggy day in October and although it was not very bright, the few leaves, which still had not fallen, were shining in bright orange. I think this is my favourite tree photo from 2021 😍

This is the left side of the field where the apple tree from above is growing. There are some old trees along the road to the farm and in my eyes they look best on such foggy and wet Autumn days.

When I was driving over a mountain pass in October, I have seen this pine tree, full of lichen. I think they are called "Old Man's Beard". The morning sun was shining nicely on the tree and I have tried to edit two different versions: one with warmer tones according to the morning sun, and because it was quite cold, I have made a slightly cooler version too.

I have posted quite a few images in the past from my drives over the Vršič Pass in Slovenia, and these three photos are also from there. This mixed forest looks great in any time of the year.
You might ask now "hey, where are the bare trees?", and I might reply "just click on the photos and you will see them in between the colourful ones" 😁

Now we are getting closer to the more wintry images from the past days, but at first another little Autumn poem I have found.

The Wind And The Leaves

"Come, little leaves," said the wind one day.
"Come o'er the meadows with me, and play'
Put on your dress of red and gold, -
Summer is gone, and the days grow cold."

Soon as the leaves heard the wind's loud call,
Down they came fluttering, one and all;
Over the brown fields they danced and flew,
Singing the soft little songs they knew.

"Cricket, good-by, we've been friends so long;
Little brook, sing us your farewell song, -
Say you are sorry to see us go;
Ah! you will miss us, right well we know."

"Dear little lambs, in your fleecy fold,
Mother will keep you from harm and cold;
Fondly we've watched you in vale and glade;
Say, will you dream of our loving shade?"

Dancing and whirling, the little leaves went;
Winter had called them, and they were content.
Soon fast asleep in their earthy beds,
The snow laid a coverlet over their heads.

The fields were clean and the trees were already naked ... gray skies and foggy background in mid of November. I have passed these trees many times, but never had a situation like this, when the fog has made the messy background disappear.

At the end of November we have had the first real snow down in the lower area where I live. It didn't snow much that day, but enough to take a few quite nice Winter photos. When I arrived at this spot there have been many more crows on the ground and in the bare trees.

Lone trees are much easier to photograph than groups of trees, at least for me 😉

Last weekend it has been snowing again and especially on Sunday it felt like deepest Winter. The image below was taken on Saturday.

I have no idea what birds these are, maybe crows or blackbirds, but they seem to like the snow. Otherwise I don't know why they would be sitting on top of the trees during heavy snowfall 😁

The two photos above and below were taken last Sunday in a park at our lake about an hour after it had begun to snow heavily.

That was it for today and for the Autumn hunts. I hope you like my photos and I also hope that the weatherman is right with the snow forecast, because when we hunt the Winter it should look nice white wintry all around 🌨️
