Melk Abbey is a Benedictine Abbey built between 1702 and 1746 by the Baroque master builder Jakob Prandtauer.

The monastery is located in Melk in Lower Austria on the right bank of the Danube is a landmark of the Wachau and belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage.

Das Stift steht in Melk in Niederösterreich am rechten Ufer der Donau ist ein Wahrzeichen der Wachau und gehört zum UNESCO-Welterbe.

The monastery is a total of 320 meters (1,050 feet) long - the south wing alone has a length of 240 meters (787 feet).

Das Kloster ist insgesamt 320 Meter lang - der Südflügel allein hat eine Länge von 240 Meter.

The building also houses Austria's oldest existing school: the Stiftsgymnasium Melk / Melk Abbey's High School.

Im Gebäude ist auch die älteste noch bestehende Schule Österreichs untergebracht: das Stiftsgymnasium Melk.
