When a photo is blurry, just sell it as "Abstract Photography Art".

Abstract Photography - Some Thoughts

But the image has to be very blurry to get recognized as "art" 😁

So now, jokes aside, what kind of photography can actually be considered as "Abstract Photography "?

I'll do something now that I usually don't do: I cite a complete Wikipedia paragraph:

Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental or conceptual photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that does not have an immediate association with the object world and that has been created through the use of photographic equipment, processes or materials. An abstract photograph may isolate a fragment of a natural scene in order to remove its inherent context from the viewer, it may be purposely staged to create a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects, or it may involve the use of color, light, shadow, texture, shape and/or form to convey a feeling, sensation or impression. The image may be produced using traditional photographic equipment like a camera, darkroom or computer, or it may be created without using a camera by directly manipulating film, paper or other photographic media, including digital presentations. ... read more at Wikipedia

If you have clicked the Wikipedia link and read the whole article and you still don't know what exactly Abstract Photography is, then you are not alone. There are many definitions around, written by many people, and my own simple definition would be that it's just everything that I wouldn't recognize as something at first glance ... I know how that sounds and your comments are welcome 😉

I call the images in this post Abstract Photography, although many might say they are "Texture Photography", "Minimalist Photography", "Intimate Landscape Photography", "ICM" or whatever, but isn't especially ICM as abstract as abstract can be?

ICM gives you abstract images, I have mentioned that above already. Both images below were taken at the Mediterranean Sea - the blue one later in the morning and the orange was an awesome sunset in Croatia.

I have to admit that my ICM's are partly digitally made in Photoshop, such as this forest image below, which I have taken in Winter in a bog area in Styria.

Doesn't this autumnal canopy look abstract at first glance? I have taken the shot in Slovenia from one side of a gorge to the other.

What do you think what you see in the photo below? It's an icy waterfall, and the ice is very dirty.

And more ice - I was fascinated by the colours of the ice on a reservoir.

Last weekend I have been in Italy at a beach and have taken a few photos of the sea during the sunrise and these quite abstract images of the sand before the dog walkers ruin the nice looking structures.

I have postponed the publishing date of this post quite a few times this week because I just didn't have enough time and mood to search and edit photos. Funny thing is that I'm at work today and finally here at work I have had enough time to finalize the post 😁
