Digital signatures as an interlingua, rise of Lex cryptographia

The technology of mathematical signatures, developed in the 1970s and onwards, makes it possible to organize in new ways, using a mathematical formula as a middle-man, an interlingua, instead of... middle men. Cybernetically, this new tool extends the capacity to trust similar to how the bicycle augments the legs and makes the human being the most endurant animal.
