After 15 years of being in South Africa, I have adapted to a stage where I can survive whether am employed or not, and thankfully for the skill I have gained in Telecoms I get called for a job now and then like last week as you are aware. The blame is often on foreigners taking their jobs but I have been unemployed for about 3 years and surviving on freelance jobs.

I am all good at surviving in the country but the frustration for me is the permit that is not being granted, it basically rendered me useless, I can't do things, not even can I own a bank account, get married or run my company which I registered about 6-7 years ago. Put all of these impediments together and they are enough reasons for me to leave.

The country is a developed country, and any visitor wouldn't want to leave to be honest, but when the odds are permanently against you then no point fighting something you are bound to be on the losing side.
