I am starting a new series about faces. As human beings, we all have a face, and we are stuck with it for life. Yet for some odd and universal reason, many people have a desire to add a face onto things that normally do not have a real face. The example in this photo is from the Rose Parade where faces are added to radishes and flower sculptures--and the faces are made out of flowers.
These happy flowers (and radishes) are just one example of an endless supply of things with faces. It represents our attempt to give humanity to that which is not at all human. So I will highlight some of these surreal things with faces over the course of this series and explore why people might do this.
For this project I will be using the new tag #thingswithfaces so that these posts can be easily searched at a glance. It will be a great way to quickly group this fun body of work. Feel free to use this same new tag also as you discover or create your own Things with Faces.
Feel free to additionally give your opinion as to why people seem to have a core creative urge to put a face on things that have no face.
