Crabbing Around Week Leading Into Freedom Weekend
Venus giving direction into the weekend dancing end of daylight, soon the moon will be up dazzling all below, a week of many small events leading into reflections of a sublime and beautiful time of the year our Autumn.
This weekend throughout the ages has all boiled down to the freedom of each no matter which doctrine is followed.
In essence we should all greet saying enjoy your freedom and take good care of it, never let others poach it!
Quietly getting along with daily life, enjoying many butterflies dancing around the garden with Chickweed (Stellaria media) in flower with some Narrowleaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata),
Butterflies from 1 cm to 5 cm in size I did not name them this time the weeds/flowers are of importance here. So many butterflies doing dizzy dance protecting their territory, totally amazing to watch.
I don't mow the lawns with no rain in sight, this simply kills off the beauty and delight of seeing the bees, butterflies even ants enjoying the weed infested lawns.
In the past I waged war on weeds then during lockdowns realized this is totally unnecessary, now after flowering I will consider removing a few before the rains arrive once again and allow the lawn to thrive.
With warm sunlight for more than eight hours per day the butterflies have sufficient time to warm up to pollinating enjoying the Chickweed in particular with flowers that close late afternoons.
Enjoying my garden this land crab found it's way into a moss filled corner on cement in a damp little spot where Woody found him. Now we don't see these crabs as often as we once did yet here we are, a sizable guy visiting.

With the low growing ferns and bush around the garden I would imagine there is plenty of food to enjoy, one never stops long enough to consider why they come wandering so far from rivers their natural source living conditions.
Lucia Widow (Palpopleura lucia) a dragonfly that enjoys our sub-tropical climate to witness the brilliant colour is something that holds you spellbound, well hanging onto the lens trying to get the best angle with sunlight beating down, you want to capture the iridescence beauty on wings, body is more a turquoise blue, bright sun did not help here.... Well there is plenty more around the garden, life never stands still waiting for us in nature, this is the week filled with sublime beauty leading up to Freedom Weekend which I hope everyone has enjoyed.
