Did you know that feeding the wild animals including all kinds of birds with a human food is actually doing a great harm to the birds?
The reason I ask that is because you can see still a lot of people feeding the birds or ducks with human foods like bread of crackers etc.
To tell you the truth, I actually was one of those people few years ago, when I would feed the ducks or birds bread crumbs until one day I thought to myself.... I know that the bread is not a healthy food to eat and that I don't want to consume much of it, or even stop consuming, period.
These two guys did not mind us or were scared at all.
So why am I feeding this product to the birds who have their own healthy diet. If it's not so healthy for the humans then it definitely is not good for the wild life who have their own proper and healthy diet.
I am actually doing more damage than good.
And I was totally right and from then on, I never feed the birds human food.
Human food is made for humans and not for the animals. And most of the human foods ( man made foods) are also terrible for our health.
Bread products, especially are known to be the foods we like to feed the birds. But breads contain sodium, sugar and carbohydrates which can be deadly for the animals like squarels, birds or fish and all kinds of other animals because this diet is unnatural and the wild life is not equipped to digest it.
Another important fact of why we should never feed the wild life is that the wild life will depend on humans as a source of food and once they do, the animals will not be able to survive on their own.
Feeding the birds can also lead to over population of birds for ghe specific area, which means there will be unnatural amount of waste which is bad for the ecosystem. Just like humans, birds need their space but where there is food provided, it encourages the birds to stay.
When we got close to the ducks, they all came running to us, looking or expecting food from us which but when we did not give them any food, they went back doing their business.
Feeding the birds can also bring unwanted pests, like rats who are attracted by the left over foods, which can lead the rats to get closer to the neighbourhoods where the rats multiply.
Feeding the birds can also have a huge impact on changing migration because the birds may stay the whole year depending on the humans to feed them, instead of migrating south for the winter.
