Greetings my beautiful people, good afternoon, I am writing to you from my beloved town of Caripito, land of good people.
Les voy a compartir algo que aconteció hoy durante mi jornada de trabajo acá en el liceo.
I am going to share with you something that happened today during my work day here at the high school.
Ya se está culminando el último momento pedagógico, o como era conocido antes lapso y estoy en ese proceso nivelando a los estudiantes, recibiendo asignaciones pendientes, recordando que ahora nuestro sistema educativo cambió, ya no es cerrado como antes o estricto, cosa que la verdad extraño. Yo estudié bajo ese sistema y considero que no era tan malo, simplemente uno acudía a clases a estudiar, aprender, se preocupaba por cumplir con las actividades y que ese promedio no bajara; en mi caso particular porque tenía un objetivo, cosa que ya les he contado en el anterior post.
The last pedagogical moment is ending, or as it was known before lapse and I am in that process leveling the students, receiving pending assignments, remembering that now our educational system has changed, it is no longer closed as before or strict, which I really miss. I studied under that system and I consider that it was not so bad, one simply went to class to study, learn, and was concerned about fulfilling the activities and that the average did not go down; in my particular case because I had a goal, which I have already told you in the previous post.
Bueno la cosa es que ahora no se puede aplazar a un estudiante, no se puede rayar mucho los trabajos o investigaciones esto porque puede traumar al estudiante y lo puede hacer sentir excluido y minimizado delante de los otros compañeros. A mi juicio existe mucha flexibilidad al momento de evaluar, no podemos aprobar con 10 puntos, porque esto se traduce en que el estudiante no está claro en la información que se le trató de enseñar durante el lapso; debemos buscar todas las estrategias posibles para que el estudiante capte, asimile y apruebe cualquier evaluación que se planifique de un tema en específico.
Well the thing is that now you can't put off a student, you can't scratch too much the work or research because this can traumatize the student and can make him feel excluded and minimized in front of the other classmates. In my opinion there is a lot of flexibility at the time of evaluation, we cannot approve with 10 points, because this means that the student is not clear on the information that we tried to teach during the period; we must seek all possible strategies for the student to grasp, assimilate and approve any evaluation that is planned for a specific topic.
Claro están sus excepciones donde el sistema es más estricto si se pudiera decir así, en los casos en los que el alumno no acude, es decir está inasistente, se procede a levantar un acta para hacer del conocimiento a la coordinación del año de que el alumno fulano de tal no está asistiendo a clases, para que la orientadora en el caso del liceo dónde labora investigue el motivo por el cual el alumno no está acudiendo a clase. Esa es la única forma de que se pueda aplazar a un estudiante, y sin embargo, si el estudiante aparece al final del momento se le debe dar la oportunidad de presentar evaluaciones de nivelación para que continúe estudiando.
Of course there are exceptions where the system is stricter, if I could say so, in cases where the student does not attend, i.e. is absent, we proceed to take a report to inform the coordination of the year that the student so and so is not attending classes, so that the counselor in the case of the school where she works investigates the reason why the student is not attending class. That is the only way that a student can be deferred, and yet, if the student shows up at the end of the time, he/she should be given the opportunity to present leveling evaluations so that he/she can continue studying.
Esto a mí juicio personal se ha vuelto una excusa de todo este modelo educativo, del cual no solo se aprovechan los estudiantes sino que ahora hasta los representantes también lo hacen; tal es el caso de una madre que llegó hoy al liceo buscando a los profesores de su hijo.
This, in my personal opinion, has become an excuse of this whole educational model, which not only the students take advantage of, but now even the representatives do it too; such is the case of a mother who arrived today at the high school looking for her son's teachers.
Inicialmente se presenta como madre y docente de un alumno, pidiendo que se le asignará hoy actividades a su hijo para que no perdiera el momento pedagógico, justificando dicha solicitud que su hijo estaba trabajando y no podía asistir a clases pero que él no quería reprobar. A mí particularmente me llamó la atención el hecho de que siendo docente y madre estuviera solicitando eso.
Initially she presented herself as the mother and teacher of a student, asking that her son be assigned activities today so that he would not miss the pedagogical moment, justifying her request by saying that her son was working and could not attend classes but that he did not want to fail. I was particularly struck by the fact that, being a teacher and a mother, she was requesting this.
Por lo general a todo padre le interesa que su hijo estudie y su futuro sea mejor que el de ellos, cosa que en este caso no pareciera así. La representante alega que la situación está difícil y que el muchacho trabaja con el abuelo cosechando verduras y hortalizas para la venta y que eso lo hace por lo general en las mañanas y por eso no acude al liceo, pero que ella había llegado a un convenio con su hijo, de que él trabajara y ella por ser docente conocedora de lo flexible que es la educación actualmente, trataría de manipular el sistema educativo para que su hijo tuviera continuidad.
In general, every parent is interested in their child's studies and that his or her future is better than theirs, which in this case does not seem to be the case. The representative alleges that the situation is difficult and that the boy works with his grandfather harvesting vegetables for sale and that he usually does this in the mornings and that is why he does not go to school, but that she had reached an agreement with her son that he would work and that she, being a teacher who knows how flexible education is nowadays, would try to manipulate the educational system so that her son would have continuity.
Tengo que acotar que actualmente existe un modelo que es educación a distancia la cual estaba antes de la pandemia, el mismo consiste en que cualquier estudiante que demuestre que por cualquier causa justificada no pueda asistir a las instalaciones educativas se le harán asignaciones para que continúe estudiando, tales como enfermedad, cuidó de algún familiar, embarazo, entre otras. En el caso de este estudiante de forma particular no aplican ninguna de las anteriores, se entiende todo esto de la situación económica pero no puede ser un justificante para lograr dicho fin. Este caso fue llevado a coordinación de defensoría escolar para que ellos evalúen y determinar qué hacer con el muchacho, que al final pudiera ser una víctima de toda esta situación.
I have to point out that currently there is a model that is distance education which was before the pandemic, it consists in that any student who demonstrates that for any justified cause can not attend the educational facilities will be assigned to continue studying, such as illness, cared for a family member, pregnancy, among others. In the case of this particular student none of the above apply, it is understood all this economic situation but can not be a justification to achieve that end. This case was taken to the school ombudsman's office for them to evaluate and determine what to do with the boy, who in the end could be a victim of this whole situation.
Para quienes no lo saben, la defensoría escolar es un departamento cuya función es velar por los derechos de los estudiantes apegados a las leyes y normas establecidas por los órganos rectores.
For those who do not know, the school ombudsman's office is a department whose function is to watch over the rights of the students in accordance with the laws and norms established by the governing bodies.
Les había mencionado antes, que el estudiante podría ser una víctima de toda esta situación, porque si pensamos con coherencia, su madre debió ir a excusarse con anterioridad, y no hacerlo ya el último día.
I had mentioned before, that the student could be a victim of this whole situation, because if we think coherently, his mother should have gone to apologize in advance, and not do it already on the last day.
Más allá de lo que normas y reglas establecidas puedan decir, creo que si se hubiese tratado el tema con tiempo y con humildad, puede que el estudiante, estuviera recibiendo clases a distancia, pues como ya todos sabemos, la situación país, y la pandemia que aún sigue, ha cambiado por completo nuestras vidas y por ende, si la educación es flexible, las personas que también padecen, sufren y necesitan, lo pueden ser.
Beyond what established norms and rules may say, I believe that if the issue had been addressed in time and with humility, the student may have been receiving distance learning classes, because as we all know, the country's situation, and the pandemic that still continues, has completely changed our lives and therefore, if education is flexible, people who also suffer, suffer and need, can be flexible.
