Yesterday I posted a short story on a Christmas Protonmail phishing e-mail I received on Christmas Eve. I promised an update in case that anything new is gonna happen. So here it is...
Here comes short summary of further actions I've taken since yesterday and their results:
a Protonmail security notification: done via e-mail, on Dec 24th, 2017 at 9:58 a.m. Result: as of Dec 25th, 2017 7:22 p.m. – NO RESPONSE.
a hosting provider contact: done via form available for such purposes at their website, for details see below mentioned screenshot.
Result: an e-mail sent back on Dec 24th, 2017 at 10:07 p.m. informed me that a reported site was suspended with a warm "thank you" for reporting it. An access to the reported abusive site now looks like that:
so THE CASE WAS RESOLVED.
3.a notification of Egyptian ORANGE on existence of an e-mail account at link.net from which the attack was done (no matter whether it is stolen or real attacker's account): I was not able to find any relevant contact at egORANGE pages related to security issues reporting. Nothing. Zero. So I turned to Twitter support. Result: After a short clarification I finally got an e-mail I can write to which I will do. See a screenshot for conversation details.
Conclusion: despite Christmas time a phishing site closure became a reality which is good. Let's hope that no or just minimal number of users got into that trap. Stay cautious, enjoyyy Christmas!!!**
