Graphite and charcoal on paper

This drawing was recently created for a member challenge of the Drawing Guild, of which I’m a member. The challenge was inspired by felines, big and small. I tried to capture the beauty of these creatures’ eyes.
This is a graphite and charcoal drawing on a sheet of A3 200gsm paper. After completion, I protect these drawings from smudging by using a fixative and placing them in a file with plastic inserts.
I’ve found that it’s easier drawing landscapes and animals for me personally. I’ve no idea why. Do you have the same experience with certain subjects? I’d like to know. I think this would make for an interesting discussion.
