Hello hivers! How y'all doing?! Time flies really fast, isn't it? We can already feel the breeze and the sensation of the starting point of "Ber" months which is September. This also means that Christmas season is fast approaching. I am actually torn between being happy or sad because, of course, we are in the middle of pandemic but I think it's nice that we are looking forward for something that makes us excited and more alive.
For the past days, I find myself enjoying in navigating Medibang Paint app in my phone. I really find digital arts so cool, convenient and fun to do. Everything is just a click or stroke away. Honestly, at first I thought that I will just try making one phone art but then its so tempting and addictive especially when I always have my phone with me. So, its been a while since I touched my art materials in my table and I decided to draw a small portrait of Hero Fiennes Tiffin using my Fabercastell Classic and Simbalion Watercolor Pencil. Let's do this hivers. Dive into my first ever color pencil portrait tutorial.
During my whole quarantine, I keep myself busy on watching series, movies and even tried reading books. And then, I found this movie entitled "After" based from the book of Anna Todd and I can't get enough of it. I decided to draw the lead male character of the story who is Hero Fiennes Tiffin as Hardin Scott. He is an English child star and was able to portray diverse, brilliant and complex characters.
Just like in my "My First Ever Phone Digital Art: A Detail and Thorough Tutorial", I normally start with an outline of my drawing using a pencil. But also sometimes I directly use the color pencil as my outline however at this moment I prefer the former. Afterwhich, I lightly erase my outline so that it won't be visible whenever I wanted to apply any colors.
Second, I started coloring the dark areas which emphasizes its shadow and highlights. It includes an area of his hair, his two eyebrows, outline of his nose and a little contour to popped his bone structure. I used the brown color pencils of both brands for the hair and eyebrows while biege and pink Fabercastell Watercolor Pencils for the cheeks.
I personally like the face structure of Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
Third, let's proceed to his charming green eyes, ears and his kissable and reddish lips. I always try to cover up the skin tone and experimenting the colors. I personally prefer about how it looks like than the final results because I feel like the skin tone is subtle and gentle and complements the entire look that I desire.
Lastly, I finished coloring his hair and retouched the entire face of Hero. To be honest, I first tried to create the watercolor version of this portrait but then I don't like the outcome so I decided to make a color pencil portrait and I liked it. But also I am fully aware that it has rooms for improvement. I always try my best to practice even though I am such a lazy person. I really want to be better on what I am currently doing and I want to make the best out of my free time.
