I have been making quite a few masks in my spare time. Since I have embroidered fabric successfully, I have made three masks with something written on the front.
I made a mask for a friend who was using a bandanna as a covering. I follow the same pattern that I have been using lately.
This particular pattern includes a space where you can insert an additional filter if you prefer.
I used a pipe cleaner that I inserted in a channel above the nose that provides a tighter fit. I used one of my jewelry tools the curl under the edge of the pipe cleaner so that it does not poke through the fabric.
I don’t feel that I need any additional filters because the thickness of the fabric along with the construction gives three layers.
That’s enough for me because it still allows me to breathe easily. The side of the mask that is not visible is not as neat as I usually make them. The fabric is very thick when I fold it to make a pocket for the elastic.
I wanted to make sure that the elastic can be replaced with ribbon or lace or anything else that the wearer prefers. All in all, I am pleased with the outcome. It will fit nicely and it will provide an effective covering for the nose and mouth. On the plus side, it has a custom look because of the embroidered initials.
Enjoy your day!
