I have had the privilege of being able to travel extensively around the world in my adult life time. Staying at home for long periods of time has not been my practice, especially since I’ve been retired.
Because of my travel exploits, I have been getting daily emails from various airlines, cruise ships, travel agencies, time shares etc. trying to reassure me that things will be getting back to normal soon or what each company is doing to keep travelers safe.
There have also been communications encouraging me to plan for future travel several months down the road. Airlines, have started offering free and flexible change policies to encourage people to book now for future travel. Southwest Airlines has never had a change fee, but larger carriers are now instituting that policy to encourage people to plan trips now even though they may be uncertain about the future.
One thing that I know for certain, is that I will not be cruising anytime soon. I do not plan to get on another cruise ship in the next few years even if it was free.
I have, however been thinking about how I can travel safely once it is safe again to travel to other states, and abroad. I have read a couple of articles about the air filtration systems on airplanes. I am convinced that if the air vent is open and I am on a newer airplane, that the quality of the air is fine on an airplane due to the hepa filters.
The biggest challenge will be sitting in close proximity to other passengers. Passengers who are not as careful as I am about not spreading germs will be the culprits on an airplane.
Needless to say, I am not going anywhere anytime soon unless I drive. Even then, it will have to be emergency travel. For right now, my travel is only to the grocery store, the pharmacy, and occasionally to Home Depot.
This is indeed a different season, but one good thing about seasons is that they always change.
Enjoy your day.
