Always happy to be among people who love this “Amazing Nature”: What I find so exciting about being in this green space—beyond the hikes and the photography—is that I get to “learn” about all the plant species and wildlife found in this beautiful reserve.

Our walks through the grounds are not only rewarding but also consistently fascinating, as they offer me the chance to learn about the plants that grow there.
This is a very special plant, as it belongs to a group that requires other plants in order to grow. This species is commonly found throughout South America.

A bird species that we see quite frequently is what we call a "pirincho" here. If you live in the Amazon region, you surely know what I am talking about. An interesting fact about this species is that you can “identify” its sex—contrary to the common belief that there is no difference—as the females are actually larger than the males. Another notable aspect of their behavior is that they are “arboreal”—meaning they live in trees—though it is also common to see them walking on the ground, foraging for food among the vegetation.

The reserve is truly beautiful and serves as the area's main attraction; for me, however, the most compelling aspect is how the plants found there constantly surprise me. This particular plant is one that caught me by surprise during my last visit; It is known by the name "night-blooming jasmine"—a name that refers to its flowering habit, as it typically blooms only at night. However, if you look at the shots we managed to capture, you can see that the flowers are open during the day. It has been truly fascinating to observe this peculiarity. These plants are native to the Americas and are highly sought after for certain compounds they contain, which are used in various industries.

If any of you who took the time to read this post are from South America, you will likely recognize this lovely plant. Depending on where you live, you may know it by different names, as is often the case with plants—many take on names derived from their place of origin. An interesting detail about this plant is one of its names: in some parts of the world, it is known as "cuckoo bread" (or *pan de cuco*). From what I’ve read online, this name is linked to a bird that, curiously, appears just when these plants emerge in the fields. It has been another fantastic week for plant hunting on the property; we discovered many beautiful species, and it was well worth the effort to explore and learn about them.
