We wondered out North, winding about an hour away and dropped into the Snake River Canyon for a little Family escape. An escape from civilization, and escape from the busy to-do life.
I tell you what between where we live and the camp ground we ended up at, there is a whole lotta NOTHIN’. Wheat fields and a couple farmhouses and powerlines is all that exist in this section of SouthEast Washington State. Sagebrush and Tumbleweeds, Basalt cliffs and sand is about all that can be found. Welcome to the desert side of Washington State.
Then out of nowhere, you find water, and a whole lot of it.
We set up shop and right away, when we introduced Sadie to the inside of the trailer, she knew exactly where her spot was
“Hey take it easy on the clean couch, getting your dog stank all over it!!”
We got her down and put a blanket over the couch so if she wanted to hang out on the couch she could. After all she is 9 years and deserves to be comfy.
The truck, which I have been recently doin a little work to, Pulled this 6,000+ pound trailer with ease. With a total combined weight of the truck and trailer being around 15-16,000 pounds it’s a good load winding through the desert.
But it is still no match for the 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel under the hood of that beast.
The kids (@lil-splatts and
@kuku-splatts) got some good practice fishing. Sadly we didn’t catch any but they sure did have a blast seeing who could cast the furthest
I couldn’t help but notice how the powerlines just dive off the cliff and down into the camp ground. To who ever installed those poles on the edge of those cliffs you get a big ‘Man-Badge’ from me.
Doing cannonballs off the dock, splashing and swimming around probably didn’t help our chances of catching any fish but catching fish wasn’t our main objective on this trip.
Next we will be headed out west to the ocean to escape the heat of SouthEastern Washington. With expected temps reaching upwards of 110f the coolness of the ocean breeze sounds like the perfect place to be.
Until next Time
