😃👋 Interesting topic @macchiata friend!... Certainly, AI already does a lot (and even more) than what many image editing softwares do. And, just as you say, many editing softwares already include AI in their tools... It seems to me that this will be useful for making a photo coated in a certain everyday feel, even for commercial photos, events, products, creativity, abstractionism, and things like that. In fact, it is something that happens in a high percentage before AI even played a role in this; because the simple fact of using the camera in automatic modes and then editing using predetermined filters and presets, is already a bit like "working automatically and generically" a photograph...

The difference for the photographer who truly needs to "feel the photo and express themselves in it" (which is more or less a bit like "creating" using the photo) will be trying to keep their way of working as artisanal as possible, because otherwise, they will never feel the photo as totally theirs, and that is something a photographer needs... I speak all this for myself, and I say it from my particular point of view as a street photographer with a marked preference for black and white. I keep shooting my photos in RAW and then taking them from the camera to the PC to edit them in the most manual way possible using Adobe Camera Raw or RawTherapee and, then, sometimes I can spend up to 20 minutes "making adjustments and transforming" the surface of the photo; and I love this as much as the moment of taking a photo and deciding on it. And although most of my photos I can feel good about after processing the RAW for about 5 minutes, they still remain my "5 very happy minutes"... Presets and software auto-adjustments could never take that away from me, I don't think AI will achieve it either...

And obviously, I don't want to create controversy or propose my opinion or way of working my photos as something "definitive and valid for everyone", but it is simply what a guy from a small and run-down town thinks, whom everyone calls "The crazy guy with the camera in his hand" when he goes down the street stealing images from time to then process them and make them look as he sees them in his head...

I even regret not having lived through the era of chemical developing, I know I would have loved that, but in my country it is practically impossible because there are no supplies for that... Maybe that will change and it can be done here, I don't know...
