Ben Simmons is poised to make Australian sporting history with a new $A239 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It crazy for us here is Australia to think that a $239 million contract is just normal for the NBA. There are a number of players looking at Maximum contract of this size, or bigger. In fact If this deal goes through, Ben Simmons could be looking at even more, with an increase to $286 million AUD if he makes an "all-NBA" team.
These amounts of money seem ridiculous, but go to show the power and big business related to sports in the US.
Great to see another Aussie export making it big in the biggest sports market (money wise at least) in the world.
Thanks for reading and have a great day,
John.
