What's Up Forward Thinkers-
Today is the day I use to look forward to every year as a child...and the weeks leading up to today were all grand and comforting...with the big finale on Joyeux Noël.
As I grew up and learned that not all get to celebrate X-Mas, I began questioning why we had holidays at all...and the main reason I came up with is to give us a break and if blessed...around Friends and Family.
Yet as I paid more and more attention...heard and read other people's experiences and perceptions of holidays...they just no longer seemed right to celebrate...don't get me wrong, I am not a grinch...just I try not to participate in the hoopla that you have to buy roses on this day, or presents on that day, hide eggs this Sunday, cook a turkey that Thursday, go for a drive on this weekend, ect...reason being...people capitalize on this phenomenon...charging higher prices... and the people that do participate appear to be doing it out of duty/expectation rather than love...the problem tends to be though, if we don't have reminders like Birthdays, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, extra...we might not ever let people we care about know that we love them, spend a day outside playing games and finding rewards, celebrate family and friends with a meal, give and receive gifts...because all of these activities in of themselves...are precious...yet the history and deceiving manipulation behind them makes me want to revolt and not participate out of protest!
