In my opinion, everyone is prone to making mistakes, and jealousy is a vulnerable aspect of human nature. However, depending on the situation and the nature of the relationship, jealousy can have both positive and negative facets. Sometimes, placing great importance on a loved one or perceiving their actions as wrong can trigger feelings of restlessness or jealousy. This emotion can stem from love, but it can also be driven by one's own insecurity.

I believe a small amount of jealousy is natural and sometimes even healthy in a relationship. The most crucial factor, however, is the ability to control one's emotions. Love should allow for a degree of freedom; just because I love someone, I cannot try to control every decision they make. I must also consider whether my behavior or jealousy is disturbing my loved one's peace of mind.

That said, if a loved one heads down a path I consider harmful or wrong, I find it natural to try to reason with them, express my concerns, or feel upset. However, reasoning with someone is not the same as forcibly imposing one's will upon them. Loving someone does not mean exerting control over them.

I have had my own experience with jealousy. In the past, I used to feel bad if a friend went out with other friends without informing me. I would often worry, feeling as though I was no longer as important to them as I used to be. Over time, however, I realized that getting so worked up or feeling insecure about such matters was unnecessary. There is no reason to assume that a relationship is deteriorating simply because a friend spends time with someone else.

I now understand that excessive suspicion is also a form of jealousy. Often, even when there is no actual problem, our insecurities lead us to entertain negative thoughts. Therefore, we should try to view relationships in a friendly and natural light. Trying to forcibly alter things that are beyond our control can actually create problems within the relationship.

Our religion, too, teaches us to guard against jealousy and envy. A well-known saying of the Prophet (PBUH) illustrates the destructive nature of envy or jealousy:

“Jealousy consumes good deeds just as fire consumes wood.”

In other words, just as fire burns wood to ashes, envy and jealousy can destroy a person's good deeds. This not only disrupts one's own peace of mind but can also breed discord in relationships. Therefore, it is crucial for us to keep this weakness of the heart under control.

Nowadays, I try to avoid unnecessary worry as a way to steer clear of jealousy. I believe that there is no benefit in obsessing over things beyond my control or trying to force outcomes. I simply wish for the well-being of my loved ones and hope to maintain trust, respect, and peace of mind in our relationships.

To me, the most beautiful aspect of love is that it encompasses love and care, yet also upholds trust and freedom.
