Today I would like to talk about going wide in the fire splinter. In my experience these cards are some of the most impactful that you can pick up for your fire splinter deck.
- Forgotten One
The Forgotten One wins in the noxious fumes ruleset all by itself. I will often set the Forgotten One Somewhere in my back line to wait until my opponent's monsters are dying off to the noxious fumes.
- Tusk the Wide
Tusk can be great for holding off magic attacks while you dismantle the opponent's back line with your other monsters.
- Ifrit Rising
I like Ifrit Rising for the mirror match. If the fire splinter is the only option on the board it makes sense to use Living Lava as your tank while attacking your opponent's back line. Round 2 rolls around and boom your opponent's living lava is no more.
- Ash Mirage
The fire splinter comes with a bunch of great ranged monsters. I can't afford to pair them with Yodin, but I can play Quix and then Ash mirage debuffs their attacks again which gives your monsters plenty of time to soak up hits.
Other great fire splinter cards to consider adding to your collection in no particular order include:
Yodin Zaku
Molten Ogre
Kobold Miner
Cerberus
Tinderlock
Lava Launcher
Grum Flameblade, and
Conqueror Jacek
When picking out new cards to buy or even rent, it's important to consider whether you'll be playing in modern or wild format. Some of the cards that I've mentioned are not options in the modern format. I left off most of the "ghost cards" because I expect that pretty much all of my readers will be familiar with these and almost all of them are worth playing on a fairly regular basis.
I would love to hear what some of your favorite cards are from the earth splinter and any stories about cards that seem to always beat you.
