For my thirty second #index4index submission, I wanted to search for a quote by a rapper and more on the legendary side of the industry. It also had to resonate with my own life. Now, I chose this quote from this legend because the dude was poetic as a mutha, but street hood poet way beyond his time. Unfortunately, he left us way too early.
I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York and I listened to rap before the airwaves played Sugar Hill Gang and I also lived on Atlantic Avenue between Eastern Parkway and Rockaway Avenue. So, if I walked to the corner of Rockaway Avenue I was more on the Brownsville side which is closer to Bed Stuy and if I walked to the Eastern Parkway corner it was more on the East New York side. There is actually a cop show by that name with Jimmy Smits. I haven't watched it and I doubt they can generate the essence of what Brooklyn used to be. I believe it's set in today's environment. I'm sure it's ok. Just no time to watch it.
The whole Brownsville and Bed Stuy thing plays a big role in why I was a big fan of Biggie who was raised over at Bed Stuy, so growing up and as rap was going to the next level, there was chatter at how nice the kid could spit. Of course, he became a legend and also left us too soon.
The quote I found was one by Tupac and although at the end when both Biggie and Tupac passed away they died as enemies and they were friend for many years.
They both had different styles and I could listen to both of their music today as if I heard it the first time.
Getting back to todays I4I submission.
The year started off great for me and my wife Tiffany, but it is starting to trend toward the shitty 2021 and 2022 vibes. For the first time in 2023 we are being tested again. Challenges are popping up and it's time for me to get into that mode I've learned to pull out through my experiences. I'm a confident enough person, but it gets old real quick.
