I was thinking of something new to draw today. I have been drawing characters most of the time. This time around, I want to draw a scenic view. I was thinking of pink sunset and sunflowers. Sunflower is my birth month flower. Perhaps this is one of my favorite flowers.
This are can be printed and framed. This also can be a phone wallpaper, right? 🥰
Sketch and background
First I sketched how I will position the sunflowers and the clouds. Since the sunflowers will be on the left-down corner, I will make the clouds denser on the opposite, just to balance.
I first set the mood by doing the background first. Usually, I do this in the later part of the art. I was thinking of when the sun is setting down, and slightly the moon is peeking. I chose shades of pink, orange, and purple for the background.
Sunflowers
Now that I set the mood of the art, it is now time to do the sunflowers. This time, I used the gouache brush. It is amazing how digital art software can mimic the real texture of brushes. Aside from this brush, I also used an airbrush, finger blender, dry gouache, and normal blender. For sunflower reference, I got it here.
I first started on the lighter color of yellow and then gradually blend the darker shades. Sunflowers are easy to paint! There are a lot of tutorials online. In my case, I just refer to the reference I got from Pinterest.
Clouds
For the clouds, I searched for a cloud brush in the Clip Studio Assets. There are a lot of cloud brushes to choose from. Honeslty, it is hard to pick because every brush has its own unique feature. I ended up downloading K's clouds fluff. The same is more is a round cotton candy.
I first add a new later for the darker shade of pink, and then on the top, added another layer for the white clouds. For the straight clouds, I used the K's cloud mega cirrus. I fixed the positions of the clouds to make it organic. I added those faint orbs, just to make the art a little busy.
The moon is a hard airbrush in a purple-white-ish color. Locked the layer and brushed with a textured brush.
I added a pink glow in the middle, sort of like the last sun rays before the sun finally sets. I added more of the faint orbs. I toned down a bit the yellow hue above the purple-blue mountains. Finally the stars!~ I used the g-pen to draw tiny circles. I actually zoomed in to at least look like a circle. 🤣 I added some whiet lines to mimic a shooting star.
tadaa~ finished art~ 💖☁️🌻
