A number of malls across America are dying. Shoppers have either turned to the internet or seek newer venues to do their shopping. Laguna Hills mall is currently experiencing this as the mall sits relatively empty on an early Sunday afternoon. Few shops were open and seemingly outnumber the number of visitors. One of its anchor stores, Macy's, has the largest crowds, but that is because scheduled to close in just 9 days and the bargain hunters are out looking for a deal.
Not all malls seem to suffer the same fate. Some other local malls, like Cerritos Mall and South Coast Plaza, seem to have no trouble keeping the visitors coming. Stores do turn over but they have managed to stay relevant. Perhaps the mall operators have managed to attract the right mix of shops that cater to the current generation and have kepted up with maintanence.
