In this world we live in, we cannot avoid losing a loved one. This is natural and there is nothing we can do about it. Even so, despite their departure, they will remain in our memories forever. It is really hard to accept the reality when we have lost a loved one. But we have to accept it because that's what we have to do. It may take time and that's okay. The important thing is that we can accept it.
All souls day is almost here and it we're gonna be busy again. This year is really coming to an end again and we will be holding it next month. So how are you about this? Do you have any preparations already?
I almost forgot that it is now October and I only remembered it when my father asked me if I would go with him on Sunday, yesterday, to the cemetery. I asked him why? and he told me that we will clean the grave of my grandfather in preparation for the upcoming all souls day. I checked the calendar and oh shoot, it's half of the month already so we gonna need do it. No buts and no excuses.
That's why I woke up early and observed the weather first because there was a typhoon raging in the upper part of the country. As I looked at the sky, I couldn't help but to feel sad because the sky was covered with thick clouds. At that time I also had a smile on my face because I could see the sun rising at the east from the small gap between the clouds and the mountains from afar , although I could not see it fully, but I was positive about it.
At the same time, my hand moved and took my cellphone to take a picture of the scene in front of me. You can see in the picture below that even though it's cloudy, the surroundings seem to be happy, but despite its positive vibes, it gave me a strange feeling that I can't explain. Maybe, this is the sadness that still clings to me caused by the death of my grandfather. I don't know what, which is which.
We got dressed and headed to our destination. We arrived at the cemetery and I stopped for a moment to take a picture of the front of it before the graves. At the same time, various thoughts about what happened were running through my mind. Every detail became fresh to me again. The pain is slowly returning to my heart as if it is being squeezed. My tears were around my eyes but I didn't show it and I just breathed deeply. (sigh)
After that, we headed to grandpa's grave to start cleaning it because time was running out. As I looked around, I noticed that there were those before us and the other tombs had already been cleaned and painted. You can see it in the picture I took below.
Before we started, we prayed and informed them that we were going to clean their grave. This is what we are used to do here because we believe that they can be right next to us. After that we started cleaning. I was with my father in scraping the sides of the grave while my mother pulled the weeds around it. We took my cousin with us to take pictures for me.hihi but also for her to say hello to our grandpa.
I used an old bolo to remove the old paint from the tomb. Doing this became a challenge for me because it was difficult to scrape the paint together with the moss because it had been a long time since it was cleaned. It took me about two hours to finish my part and also with the other side which my father did.
After that I rested for a while. I also told my mom to light the candle because it's already twelve o'clock in the noon. She followed what I said and after that I also told my father to finish what he was doing because it was already twelve o'clock. He then finished what he was doing and washed his hands then rested together with me in the corner.
As I took my rest, the flowers next to the graves caught my attention. This brought a smile to my face because they were beautiful to watch. Their bright colors bring joy to the gloomy atmosphere. Every corner of the cemetery has a bell plant. It's flowers also give life to the surroundings. I can't help myself not to think that what a peaceful place to rest forever.
We rested and decided to go home already to have lunch. As we drove the long way home, I couldn't help but think that it's really hard to lose a loved one, especially when it's sudden like what happened to my grandfather. It's really hard to move on honestly.
It's been already six months now since he passed away but still I haven't fully accepted it. I just don't show it to my family because I know in their hearts that even them they still can't accept it, especially my grandmother.
Because of this I'm trying my best to make grandma happy and laugh often because I can see in her eyes that her heart is still wounded because of what happened. Through this, I am able to entertain myself also and forget the sadness because I really miss grandpa to be honest. I really missed the old days wherein we're together doing the works in the field and the time when we're together in our house, only the two of us while everybody else is in town. Because I'm not really an outside person so I prefer to stay and grandpa will always be with me.
What a life. We can't predict what may happen in the next seconds so treasure those people you loved especially your parents and grandparents. Time is running and every second is important. We can't missed the chance to show our love to them.
This became so long already so if you've read this far then thank you friends, for reading.
