Went to an interesting outcrop today on the side of the road. My entire class participated in inspecting the rock face that had so many aspects to it. You can see the folding of the sandstone in the photos. We had a beautiful day with clear skys and a bright sun. The best part is that we were right by a river that had some rapids.

From this photo you can clearly see the folding of the rocks. As you move more to the top left of the photo you can see how the rock start to turn upwards.

This shows how over time a rock called "Red Limey Shale" basically moved it's way up between two rocks. This happens where there is intense pressure. The pressure squeezes the more ductile rock between the more competent rocks.
