I'm actually working on a big longform piece that compares Lens to Hive.

My initial research can provide one answer to your question. Lens has been built with fast dev-onboarding at their core. It's much, much easier for devs to hop into Lens and have ready-made UX/UI modules ready to go, tons of educational materials, support, etc. Hive def has things like this, but since we're more dencentralized, it's not optimized nor well organized.

In general, I see Lens as a more Top-Down approach to DeSo, whereas Hive is necessarily much more Bottom-Up. I also think both systems can live in harmony and likely find value in seeking interoperability :)
