Actually in my opinion, physical cash is considered a safe haven by some people. I don't remember where I heard it exactly but lets take the situation in China and their transactions. Given how China controls who gets to transact in the system, people can be kept out of the system. But right now with cash, they can still live their lives.

So I still think the centralized entities that control the system is still dangerous and why I prefer more decentralized payment systems.
