Honestly I just keep my credit/debit card as a way to pay things easily without carrying as much cash. I do make sure to pay it off every month so there is no late fee. In that way, I am not producing any new debt but it does help the banks provide liquidity to the economy. Also the cash back (even if its small) means I get back a little extra on the money I was already planning to use.

Everyone has different ways of thinking so if what you are doing works, keep doing it. I personally don't like debt either and I don't know how people can buy things they can't afford to pay off (minus things like cars and houses). The reason why I don't consider cars and houses as part of it is because the money can be put to use to earn more APR. For example if your house has an APR of 3% and the stock market gives you 8&, then I'd rather get the 8% and use that to pay off the 3%.
