NEW!! Steemit – Edit Your Post After 7 Days ! -- The problem and solution

So after 7 days it’s not possible anymore to edit your post as it becomes part of the blockchain. Ok fair enough, that’s how this social platform works. Nothing can be changed or deleted after those 7 days and makes you think twice before you post something, right? But with some posts it would be great if there still would be a way to make changes. Not by editing the post itself, but by letting the reader know that there is an ‘update’ of the original post.

Imagine, for example, that you have written a very detailed tutorial about @Steemit. This tutorial is getting lots of attention and great reviews when it gets published. A few months later things have changed again and Steemit has evolved, and some parts of the tutorial are outdated. Still, the post is being read by many new viewers, only to find out that the content is outdated. It’s no longer possible for you to edit the post. You could write a comment with a link to your updated tutorial, but then you don’t want/expect your readers to go through dozens of comments before finding yours.

So, here’s a thought, what about the possibility to activate a link-button [ Post Update ] which brings the readers to a new and updated post; the Steemit Tutorial 2.0.?

How would that work?

The moment the ‘edit’ button disappears after 7 days, it could be replaced by the [Add link] button. (1)

The user could write a new post with the updated tutorial first and then create a link in the outdated post. (2)

The link would appear in an easy to notice place. Clicking on the link would bring the user to the new, updated Post (3)

Another example could be that you have written an amazing first chapter of a thriller story. The post is receiving lots of attention and replies. Now a few weeks later you have created a new post containing the second chapter of that story. Wouldn’t it be great if you could show the readers of the first chapter that there is another chapter posted? Obviously the first post is locked and you cannot edit it or place a link at the bottom to direct your fans to the second chapter post.
But what if there would be a [Continued Here] button, linking to the second post?

Or use that link-button in case you forgot to put [Image Credit] in the original post. Also you could use that link to direct the reader to a [Disclaimer]

Or perhaps let the reader know that you no longer support or regret the content of a particular post that you wrote 3 years ago and linking to that new post you could explain why…
