Steve, it’s great to hear from you! I was absolutely captivated by this post. The photographs are a visual delight, but I also really enjoyed the story you told about Nunnington and the details of your visit. I’ve discovered so many wonders of the UK here on Hive, I often wonder if I’ll ever get to see them in person, but even if that doesn't happen, I always find something interesting here.
That wooden toilet must have been quite a luxury back in the day; in fact, it still looks great. I also loved the trophy room, the rugs, and those small musical instruments. You mentioned that the owners of homes like these often couldn't afford their upkeep, and I’ve seen many such places across the UK, but it’s wonderful that they are now museums where people can get a sense of the history, as well as the architecture and design of that era. It’s truly a marvel, at least for someone like me who loves appreciating homes like these. Thanks for sharing! 🙏
