It has been almost half a year since my family's life changed completely. These last few days I have written with a lot of melancholy knowing that this Christmas will not be the same, but preserving the joy that in the midst of the chaos we are still together and multiplying our family love.
What many people don't know is that the music, which is my job, I perform in a different city, so all these months since the accident happened my time has been divided between two places that are an hour and a half away from each other. My hometown, where my dad is healing his wounds and accompanied by the great unconditional love of my mom and on the other hand my adopted city, where my dreams, my achievements and the woman with whom I decided to spend my life.
To be more specific, I have to travel between Caracas and Maracay several times a week, a complicated but not impossible task. However, I have found a gap of happiness in this hustle and bustle, and that is the landscape of my beautiful country.
As much as I move from one city to another, I always discover a new landscape to see, a new tree that catches my attention, a new play of shapes that the clouds make, a new animal that peeks out from the bushes. It is an experience that I would never tire of, and to enhance it I use my headphones and let myself be enveloped by the music that has become the soundtrack of these trips.
I'm not going to deny it, being a highway eventually some crazy driver scares me a lot and at times reminds me of the sadness I carry in my heart for dad's accident, but I must admit that between medical care in Maracay and work commitments in Caracas, these trips full of landscapes rich in vegetation have been a psychological therapy for me.
The moment of traveling has become something sacred for me, so I prepare myself mentally so that the experience is healthy, even though I always find it hard to motivate myself to leave either of the two cities and their particular occupations; but all these worries give way as the mountainous climate envelops the bus, filling me with peace.
I decided to take some pictures so you know what I'm talking about. I'm not a photographer, but I think that without so much editing you can appreciate a little of what I enjoy at this time to the beat of the music. The connection with mother nature is an essential part of all of us. I look forward to the moment when I can take my parents out again to enjoy the most beautiful landscapes of my country, but in the meantime I will continue to focus on the specialness of the Venezuelan roads that manage to make me smile and feel at peace for an hour and a half...
