Canadians can use Marijuana Nationwide, Canadian lawmakers approved a bill for this.
Marijuana—also called weed, herb, pot, grass, bud, ganja, Mary Jane, and a vast number of other slang terms—is a greenish-gray mixture of the dried flowers of Cannabis sativa.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Liberals had made legalizing recreational use of marijuana part of their successful 2015 election campaign.
So on Tuesday Canadian lawmakers approved a bill to legalize recreational marijuana in a 52-29 vote in the Senate. The bill controls and regulates how the drug can be grown, distributed, and sold.
Canada is the second country to legalise the drug's recreational use. Uruguay was the first country to legalise the sale of cannabis for recreational use.
The bill will likely receive Royal Assent this week, and the government will then choose an official date when the law will come into force.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said,
“It’s been too easy for our kids to get marijuana - and for criminals to reap the profits. Today, we change that. Our plan to legalize & regulate marijuana just passed the Senate”.
Canadians will be able to buy cannabis and cannabis oil grown by licensed producers at various retail locations by mid-September.
Canadians across the country will also be able to order the drug online from federally licensed producers.
Canadian marijuana companies like Canopy Growth, Aphria, Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences ETF and Aurora Cannabis have been at the center of investor frenzy surrounding attempts to legalize marijuana for recreational use nationwide.
