despair for the world develops in me

also, I wake in the night at any rate sound

in dread of what my life and my kids' lives might be,

I proceed to rests where the wood drake

rests in his excellence on the water, and the extraordinary heron bolsters.

I come into the tranquility of wild things

who don't impose their lives with thinking ahead

of sadness. I come into the nearness of still water.

Also, I feel above me the day-dazzle stars

holding up with their light. For a period

I rest in the beauty of the world, and am free.
