About a month ago, I heard this song and wondered why on EARTH I'd never learned it.
Didn't take me long to figure out the progression, finding a key where I could sing it effectively was harder.
This song is by JD Souther, who was known more as a composer/collaborator than a solo artist, this being one of the few he release on his own, in 1979.
It has been covered by several, most notibly by Roy Orbison, and now me.
