I hate to admit it but I do see a bear case for Ethereum as well. For the past few years, I am on the coo-coo train that defends one simple statement - code is law.
The only problem with that is that I don't understand the complete ramifications of such an ideology. While everyone was mining ETH I was mining ETC because it sounded more ideologically aligned with my own values and I like the fact that they accepted defeat after the DAO hack, took the L and moved on with the same infrastructure.
It takes balls and dedication to take the unpopular path but I am far from convicted that ETC is the "true Ethereum". It just sounds better as a concept so it remains my favorite Ethereum to this day.
After seeing what Layer 2 solutions can do I don't think ETH is going down without a fight, that is for sure. Regarding everything else you said, yes, crypto is still far from delivering what the people actually need but we are slowly moving in that direction, especially here on Hive.
