"Mummy are we going to be late for Jennifer鈥檚 graduation party?" My daughter asked me as she held on tightly to my dress.

The bitter truth is that disappointments are inevitable no matter how hard we try not to, in my case it wasn鈥檛 intentional to disappoint but it couldn't be helped.
It was my sister鈥檚 daughter鈥檚 (Jennifer) graduation party, my sister called weeks earlier to remind me of the graduation party, it was going to be a special day because not only was Jennifer graduating from primary school, but as the best graduating student, I had to make sure to be there.
My sister suggested I came a day before to her place because she didn鈥檛 want to take chances but I had so much work to do that I couldn鈥檛 come over, so I gave her the assurance that I鈥檇 definitely be there. Jennifer, my niece is very fond of me, so I promised to be there on her special day.
I was choked with work that I didn鈥檛 realize that Jennifer鈥檚 graduation party was the next day, I began sorting my dress and daughters' for the occasion.
On the D-day, I woke up early to get ready, I needed to be there on time. Everything was in place, we left on time, unfortunately we were stuck in heavy traffic, I thought the traffic would clear soon but it just worsened. It turned out that a heavy duty vehicle had developed some fault and blocked the main route, so all vehicles had to use only one route. The result? Heavy congestion!
I looked at my wrist watch, we were already running late, to worsen the situation my sister鈥檚 line wasn鈥檛 going through so I couldn鈥檛 tell her the situation of things. I felt so bad when I got to the graduation ceremony and they were almost rounding up and even worse when I saw the disappointment on my niece鈥檚 face.
"You disappointed me, I expected you to be here to cheer me from the crowd, when I was receiving my award" Jennifer sulked and walked out. Those words cut me deep, she stayed mad at me for a long time, but with time she came to understand that the disappointment wasn鈥檛 intentional.
