My First Time Playing MiniGolf [Esp-Eng]

Hace unos días pasé un día diferente con mis amigos. Por lo general nuestros planes son ir al bowling o ir a comer, pero esta vez de la nada se les ocurrió a mis amigos viajar hacia otro estado para poder disfrutar de una actividad distinta. Así que viajamos por un ratito y luego llegamos a un centro comercial al que no había ido nunca, Metrópolis. En la parte de atrás de este centro comercial hay un parque llamado Metroland.

​Aquí hay varias actividades como karting, tirolesa, cancha de bateo y también minigolf. Lo genial de todo esto es que venden una entrada a un muy buen precio que es para hacer las cuatro actividades. Así que compramos una cada uno y comenzamos nuestra aventura del día, pero esto después de haber esperado casi una hora en el carro a que escampara, porque la verdad es que la lluvia no nos iba a dejar disfrutar de estas actividades. Después de un rato escampó y fuimos a divertirnos.

A few days ago, I spent a different kind of day with my friends. Usually, our plans involve going bowling or out to eat, but this time, out of the blue, my friends decided to drive to another state to try something new. So we drove for a little while and then arrived at a mall I’d never been to before, Metropolis. In the back of this mall, there’s a park called Metroland.

There are several activities there, such as go-karting, a zip line, a batting cage, and mini-golf. The great thing about it is that they sell a ticket at a very good price that covers all four activities. So we each bought one and began our adventure for the day—but not before waiting in the car for almost an hour for the rain to let up, because, honestly, the rain wasn’t going to let us enjoy these activities. After a while, the rain let up, and we went to have some fun.

​La verdad es que ese día mi teléfono no tenía mucha carga, así que solo logré tomar fotos del minigolf. De eso voy a hablarles hoy, a contarles mi experiencia y lo divertido que fue, aunque eso ya lo dije. Debo decir que nunca en mi vida he jugado golf y por supuesto que tampoco minigolf. La idea que tenía de este juego en específico era lo que había visto en películas a lo largo de mi vida, y la verdad es que no hay nada más genial que tener experiencias por primera vez de algo.

​Este minigolf de Metroland cuenta con 18 hoyos y, a medida que íbamos jugando, iba también subiendo su dificultad. Como fuimos cuatro personas, este juego tardó un buen rato. Aunque al principio fui algo torpe, la verdad es que en el camino comencé a agarrarle el truco, aunque seguramente estaba rompiendo un montón de reglas de minigolf que no sé. Creo que la parte más divertida fue que todos nos estábamos volviendo bastante competitivos, así que teníamos una lucha intensa por intentar ganar.

​Había hoyos en los que debías pasar la pelota por encima de un puentecito que no tenía ningún tipo de protección hacia los lados, así que tardamos un montón en llegar al hoyo porque la pelota se iba y esto significaba comenzar de nuevo. Cuando llegamos al último hoyo fue toda una locura porque no tenía idea de cómo iba a salir de ahí y llegar hasta él, pues había que dar un montón de vueltas. Por un error de principiante, mi pelota simplemente cayó de una vez en el hoyo y gané.

The truth is, my phone wasn't very charged that day, so I only managed to take pictures of the mini-golf course. That's what I'm going to talk to you about today—to tell you about my experience and how much fun it was, although I already mentioned that. I have to say that I've never played golf in my life, and of course, I've never played mini-golf either. My idea of this specific game was based on what I’d seen in movies throughout my life, and honestly, there’s nothing cooler than having a first-time experience with something.

This Metroland mini-golf course has 18 holes, and as we played, the difficulty level kept increasing. Since there were four of us, the game took quite a while. Although I was a bit clumsy at first, I actually started to get the hang of it as we went along—though I was probably breaking a bunch of mini-golf rules I didn’t even know about. I think the most fun part was that we were all getting pretty competitive, so we were in an intense battle to try to win.

There were holes where you had to hit the ball over a little bridge with no side barriers, so it took us forever to reach the hole because the ball kept rolling off, which meant starting over. When we got to the last hole, it was total chaos because I had no idea how I was going to get there—you had to go around in circles a bunch of times. Thanks to a beginner’s mistake, my ball just fell right into the hole, and I won.

​No tengo idea si eso se vale, pero la verdad es que nosotros lo contamos. En este último hoyo tienes que dar varias vueltas subiendo hasta una pequeña cumbre, y en esta cumbre hay tres hoyos por los que tú tienes que decidir dónde vas a meter la pelota para que caiga en el hoyo final. Solo uno de estos tres hoyos es el correcto. Aunque yo gané desde el principio, estuvo súper divertido ver todo este proceso, por el cual hubo algunas peleas graciosas. Yo ya estaba contenta porque simplemente había ganado, aunque debo admitir que me hubiese gustado vivir toda la experiencia sin ganar tan fácilmente.

​Debo decir que estuvo bastante divertida esta actividad. Como dije antes, todavía no sé bien si hay que seguir ciertas reglas y demás, pero aun así es una actividad totalmente diferente para hacer con los amigos, en la que entre risas y competencia pasas una tarde súper agradable y, desde mi punto de vista, muy sana. Me encantaron las cuatro actividades, pero esta en especial, que fue la que más tardó y no tenía un límite de tiempo como tal, fue a la que más pudimos sacarle provecho.

I have no idea if that’s allowed, but the truth is, we counted it. On this last hole, you have to go around in circles several times, climbing up to a small hilltop, and at the top there are three holes—you have to decide which one to aim for so the ball falls into the final hole. Only one of these three holes is the right one. Even though I won right from the start, it was super fun to watch the whole process unfold—which led to some funny arguments. I was already happy just because I’d won, though I have to admit I would’ve liked to experience the whole thing without winning so easily.

I have to say this activity was pretty fun. As I said before, I’m still not entirely sure if there are certain rules to follow and so on, but even so, it’s a totally different kind of activity to do with friends—one where, amid laughter and friendly competition, you spend a really enjoyable afternoon that, in my opinion, is very wholesome. I loved all four activities, but this one in particular—which took the longest and didn’t have a strict time limit—was the one we got the most out of.
