I'm not really a music person.

I'm more into lyrics and poems—basically, words. I like language, especially when I can understand it and sit with what it's saying.

Funny enough, though, this 2026, I've discovered that music can somehow quiet the voices in my head.

Just not music I understand.

K-drama OSTs, Korean songs, even the Korean sports commentary I listen to on Gentleman's League—I don't understand everything, and I think that's exactly why I find them relaxing.

If I understand the lyrics, my brain starts working. One line becomes a thought, that thought leads to another, and suddenly I'm back in the overthinking loop.

But when I don't understand the words, I can just listen.

The voices, the rhythm, the emotion—they're there, but I don't have to do anything with them.

K-drama OSTs are especially nice because the emotion already feels complete. I've heard them in the context of a story, so I don't need to analyze what they're saying. I can just let the feeling sit in the background.

The Korean football commentary does something similar. It's just people talking excitedly, reacting to the game, laughing, shouting. To me, it almost feels like rain pattering in the background.

Except I can't stand actual rain sounds because of my storm trauma. 😂

So apparently, my version of calming rain is Korean people yelling about football.

I've noticed it most when I'm alone doing chores.

Sound on → hands busy → mind settles → time passes faster → chores get done.

It's funny. I never thought I needed music.

Maybe I just needed sound I don't have to understand.

Because when I understand the words, I think.

When I don't, I can simply listen.

And apparently, that's enough to give my brain a break. 😂

I've been awake since 2am and I'm just so restless. My guts are throwing tantrums as well.

Let's see how many upvotes this one gets without photos. HAHA
